The Najeeb Khoury Wellness on Wheels Initiative
At the Monarcas Foundation, we believe healing begins with access, compassion, and community. The Wellness on Wheels Initiative brings that vision to life—delivering bilingual, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed wellness directly to neighborhoods across California through our mobile unit.
Together with our partners in healthcare, law, and social services, we address the social, medical, and emotional factors that shape mental health—meeting people where they are with education, connection, and care.
What We Do
Our mobile unit is comprised of volunteer physicians, therapists, attorneys, and social-service professionals who collaborate to promote whole-person wellness through education, outreach, and community connection.
Together, we visit underserved communities, schools, libraries, and local events—bringing culturally responsive, trauma-informed resources that support mental, physical, and social well-being.
Wellness Education & Skills: Stress management, mindfulness, grief and resilience, and emotional wellness workshops.
Screenings & Warm Referrals: Brief, non-diagnostic wellness check-ins and connections to low- or no-cost local supports.
Note: Licensed professionals volunteer under their own credentials and malpractice coverage to provide educational and supportive services. The Monarcas Foundation does not employ, supervise, diagnose, treat, or bill for medical, legal, or clinical services.
In Loving Memory of
Najeeb Nabil Khoury (1977–2025)
This initiative is named in loving memory of Najeeb Nabil Khoury—a devoted husband, father, attorney, and community leader whose life embodied integrity, fairness, and compassion.
A Harvard Law graduate with a deep commitment to public service, Najeeb dedicated his career to advancing justice, equity, and understanding in both the private and public sectors. He worked in advocacy and arbitration, bridging divides between people and systems with empathy, professionalism, and fairness.
Najeeb’s life was tragically cut short by a rare and aggressive cancer, yet his legacy of compassion and integrity continues to inspire. His older sister, Dr. Maribel “Bella” Khoury Shaar, a long-time champion of mental health and wellness, founded this initiative in his honor — transforming grief into action and continuing the work they both deeply believed in: bringing healing, hope, and access to communities in need.
Najeeb believed that true progress happens when compassion and justice go hand in hand. His values — integrity, access, and community — mirror our mission to make healing and wellness accessible to all. By naming this initiative in his honor, we continue the work he championed: ensuring that compassion, opportunity, and fairness reach every corner of our communities.
“He believed that education and compassion could transform not just lives, but entire systems. This project exists in that same spirit.”
